Dolphins Sweep Belmont and Mercer To Conclude Mercer Invitational

MACON, Ga. - Jacksonville University softball took both games on the last day of the Mercer Invitational.  

The Dolphins (8-6) beat Belmont 2-0 and exploded for a 13-1 win over Mercer on Saturday.

Game 1  

In the top of the second inning Madison Kennedy homered to left field to start off the scoring for the Dolphins.  

In the top of the fourth inning Allison Bratek homered to left field making the score 2-0. Emma Whitfield went complete to earn the win in the circle, allowing only two hits while striking out four and throwing only 74 pitches in the victory.

Game 2  

In the first inning Madison Reynolds singled to third base. Madison Bratek reached on a fielder's choice and Reynolds advanced to second base. Bratek advanced to second and Reynolds stole third base. M. Bratek advanced to third and Reynolds scored. Kailey Harrigan singled to left center, M. Bratek scored. The Dolphins scored two runs.  

In the second inning Hallie Kern walked. Allison Carter singled through the right side and Kern advanced to second base. Leguizamon reached on an error by the second baseman, and she advanced to second base. Carter advanced to third and Kern scored. Reynolds singled up the middle and advanced to second on the throw. Two RBI's were earned as two Dolphins scored. Allison Bratek walked to first base. Victoria Rodebaugh grounded out to second base. M. Bratek advanced to third and Reynolds scored. M. Bratek scored on an unearned RBI.  

The Dolphins kept their foot on the gas scoring five runs in the third inning. Jacksonville extended the score to 11-0 going into the fourth inning. In the final inning, Rodebaugh walked to first base. A. Bratek homered to center field, Rodebaugh scored. The Dolphins scored two runs in the fifth inning, winning 13-1.
