FORT MYERS, FLA- Jacksonville University Women's softball program started ASUN Conference play Saturday afternoon against Florida Gulf Coast.
The Dolphins (13-14) dropped both contests to FGCU 2-3 and 0-1 in seven innings.
Game 1
FGCU gained momentum early in the second inning with two runs. In the fourth inning, Tatianna Davis singled through the right side. Madison Kennedy walked to first base allowing Davis to advance to second base. Hallie Kern pinch ran for Kennedy. Joely Leguizamon reached on a fielder's choice; Kern advanced to second base. Madison Reynolds doubled, Leguizamon advanced to third and Kern scored.
In the bottom of the fourth inning The Eagles forced another run against the Dolphins. In the top of the sixth inning, Victoria Rodebaugh popped up to the second baseman. Davis reached on an error by the second baseman allowing her to get on second base. Leguizamon singled to left field; Davis returned home.
Unfortunately, the Dolphins fell short to the Eagles.
Game 2
The Dolphins remained scoreless throughout seven innings. The Eagles homered one in the fourth inning.
