FORT MYERS, FL- Jacksonville traveled to Fort Myers to take on #9 Stetson in the first round of the ASUN Tournament. The Dolphins fell short 53-60. Â
Third- Team All- Conference Shynia Jackson started the scoring for the Dolphins. The two programs traded points in the last two minutes of the quarter. Seraphine Bastin scored with a floater with seconds left on the clock to end the first quarter. In the second quarter Jackson started off the scoring again for Jacksonville. Due to turnovers from the Dolphins the Hatters gained momentum. The Hatters outscored the Dolphins 18 to 9 leading into halftime 28-22. Â
In the third quarter Jackson got the offensive going for Jacksonville with a huge three-pointer to cut the deficit. A three-pointer from Junior Delanya Gillard put the Dolphins back into the game. A floater from Bastin tied the score 32-32. It was a back-and-forth affair throughout the quarter. Jacksonville sparked some momentum outscoring Stetson 17 to 15. In the final quarter Jackson dominated scoring back-to-back buckets for Jacksonville. Late in the quarter the Dolphins tried to fight their way back into the game. Unfortunately, the Dolphins came up short. Â
Jackson reached her 1000 career point with 23 points and 8 rebounds.Â
