Softball Clinched Final Spot in Conference Tournament

JACKSONVILLE, FLA – Jacksonville University won the series finale against North Florida Saturday night. The Dolphins clinched the final spot in the ASUN Conference Tournament.

The Dolphins (25-26, 11-13 ASUN) defeated the Ospreys (29-23, 10-13-1 ASUN) with a score of 11-5. 

In the fourth inning, Kari Holzrichter walked to first base. Allison Carter then singled to left center allowing Holzrichter to advance to second. Hannah Nasco pinch ran for Holzrichter. Graduate Student Madison Kennedy singled down the left field line and Nasco scored.   

Jacksonville held the Ospreys to only one run in the bottom of the fifth inning.  

In the top of the fifth inning, Madison Reynolds doubled to left center. Junior Kailey Harrigan doubled down left field, sending Reynolds home for the Dolphins.  

The Dolphins added nine insurance runs in the seventh inning to seal the game.  
In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Dolphins gave up four runs but held on to the victory. 

Jacksonville will compete in a play in game against the #5 seed May 9.
