JACKSONVILLE, -- Jacksonville fought back from a 1-0 deficit to knock off Lipscomb 3-2 Saturday (Nov. 2) at home at Southern Oak Stadium.
The Dolphins improved to 4-6-5 overall and 2-3-2 in ASUN play following the win. On a night that JU needed a victory to have a shot at the postseason, Jacksonville answered the early goal and took three points on Senior Night, falling just short of a postseason berth on tiebreakers.
How it Happened
Lipscomb opened the scoring when Bubu Medina scored in the fifth minute.
The Dolphins leveled the game on a goal from Olivier Correa -- his second goal of the season -- in the 13th minute. Carson Wood earned a penalty streaking into the box, as Correa converted the penalty kick to tie the game.
Jacksonville went ahead 2-1 on Correa's 45th-minute goal, his second of the season. Carson Wood assisted the goal.
The Dolphins went up 3-1 with a 46th-minute goal from Matthew Skinner, his first goal of the season.
Lipscomb closed the gap to make it a 3-2 game on Javanne Smith's goal in the 71st minute. The JU defense would hold the one-goal lead until the final whistle ending the 2024 season with a victory.
