The Jacksonville women's basketball team fell to the Alabama Crimson Tide 93-46 Sunday afternoon in the final non-conference clash of the season.
The Dolphins (6-6) were led by sophomore forward
Saniyah Craig. She finished with a team-high 11 points, her fourth double-digit scoring performance of the season. Craig also grabbed a team-high five rebounds.
Jacksonville started strong in the first quarter. Senior guard
Priscilla Williams got the Dolphins on the board early with a pair of baskets inside. Craig finished after a perfect feed from Williams. Then she corralled her own miss and scored the put-back basket to give Jacksonville an 11-10 lead early.
Alabama pulled ahead late in the first and led 15-13 at the end of the period. The Crimson Tide's offense took over in the second quarter, and the hosts led 47-24 at the break.
The hosts continued to shoot well from beyond the arc and pulled away for the second half. Alabama shot 14-26 from range, including 9-12 in the second and third quarter.
The Dolphins still showed their talent down the stretch. Jacksonville went on a 9-0 towards the end of the third quarter, led by freshman guard
Comari Mitchell, to cut into the deficit. Sophomore guard
Bailey Burns finished with 10 points, the first double-figure performance of her career.Â

- The Dolphins finished non-conference play 6-6, improving on a 4-9 run last season.
- In addition to her first double-digit game, Burns has scored at least seven points in three of her last four games.
- Junior guard Julene Royale scored a season-high five points and grabbed a career-high five rebounds.
- Sophomore center Jada Jones blocked a season-high two shots, and graduate student forward Makayla Edwards had a season-high three steals.
