JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –The Jacksonville baseball team (11-13) fell to the UCF Knights (16-6) 6-0 in a midweek matchup on Tuesday night.
Blake Barquin started the game on the mound for the Dolphins. He pitched 5.2 innings, gave up six runs, none of which were earned, off six hits, walked one, and struck out a pair.
The Knights got on the board first in the top of the second, taking advantage of two Dolphin defensive errors to get ahead early 2-0. Another defensive mishap in the top of the third by Jacksonville scored a Knights runner to extend UCF's lead to three.
UCF tacked on to its lead in the top of the sixth with a bases-loaded, bases-clearing triple, making it 6-0 Knights.
Layton Perry relieved Barquin after the triple. Perry pitched 2.1 innings, gave up no hits or runs, walked one, and struck out two.
Garrett Corbett relieved Perry in the ninth, giving up only one hit and allowing no runs to score.
Caden Boxrucker pitched 8.2 innings for the Knights and was throwing a no-hitter until
Abdriel Delgado got Jacksonville in the hit column in the bottom of the ninth. With two outs, Delgado smacked a double to left-center, the only Dolphin hit on the day.

The Dolphins go back on the road this week to face off against Central Arkansas in a three-game conference series. Jacksonville plays Thursday, Friday, and Saturday this week in accordance with the Easter weekend. First pitch on Thursday is slated for 7:00 PM EST.
