Jacksonville Falls In Both Games Of Saturday Doubleheader Against Cal State Fullerton

FULLERTON, Ca. - Jacksonville (5-10) was defeated in both games of their Saturday doubleheader against Cal State Fullerton (7-7).  

Peyton Prescott got the start on the bump and went three innings, giving up five hits, six runs (five of them earned), two walks and struck out three.  

Fullerton jumped out on the board early, putting up four runs in the bottom of the first.  

In the top of the third, the Dolphins started to get the bats going with a Will Gale double and a Tyler Hinrikus base hit but couldn't get them home. 

The Titans added to their lead with a two-run homerun over the left-field fence to extend the lead to six. A sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth gave the Titans another run to make it 7-0.  

Logan Jones registered two strikeouts in the bottom of the fifth to get the Dolphins bats back up to the plate to try and get something going. The Dolphins continued to compete, adding two runs in the top of the sixth off a Josh Steidl solo homerun and a Abdriel Delgado RBI double. 

Cal State Fullerton added six runs in the bottom of the sixth, and after a scoreless top of the seventh by the 'Phins, the game was called due to a run-rule. The final score was 13-2.  

Game Two 

In game two of Saturdays doubleheader, the Dolphins were defeated 13-5 in seven innings by the Titans. 

Richie Long started on the bump and was given the loss. In his outing, he gave up seven runs (all earned), six hits, walked three and struck out two. 

Fullerton came out hot once again putting up seven runs in the first two innings to give them a seven-run lead. 

The Dolphins kept battling though and responded in the top of the third with five hits. A Josh Steidl base hit got the 'Phins on the board, making it 7-2 Fullerton. Later in the inning, Abdriel Delgado singled to left field scoring Steidl to make it 7-3. 

The Titans offense stayed hot, extending their lead to 10-3 with two more runs in the fourth, and followed up with two more in the fifth to make the score 12-3.  

Fullerton would add three more runs before the game was called in the seventh due to a run rule. 

Three Strikes 

1. Will Gale had two hits in each game 

2. Josh Steidl had three total RBIs on the day 

3. The Dolphins pitching staff totaled 11 strikeouts in both games. 

On Deck: 

Jacksonville will travel to Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday to take on the Wildcats with First pitch scheduled for 6:00 PM.
