STATESBORO, Ga.- Jacksonville baseball was defeated on Tuesday night in a midweek game with Georgia Southern with a final score of ()
Jacksonville came out of the gate with a two-run lead after the top of the first, but had trouble containing the Eagles offense, causing the Dolphins to drop the Tuesday evening matchup.
The Dolphins rallied with two outs in the top of the first to load the bases early for JU, giving them a chance to take the lead early.
Josh Steidl and
Tyler Hinrikus remained patient at the plate; both drew walks to add a run each for the 'Phins to give Jacksonville an early 2-0 lead. The Eagles quickly responded in the home half of the first with a three-run homer to make it 3-2 through the first.
Georgia Southern extended their lead to 4-2 in the second with an RBI base hit. The Eagles offense added a pair of runs in the next inning with two solo homers to make it 6-2 through three innings.
Tyler Hinrikus stepped up to the plate and rocked a homer that traveled 422 feet to deep left center to make it 6-3 in the fourth. The 104 MPH was the Junior's third homerun of the 2024 season.
In the sixth and the seventh innings the Eagles extended their lead to 10-3. Jacksonville was determined to keep competing in the game and the Dolphins offense battled back in the eighth.
Abdriel Delgado drove in
Chandler Howard with a RBI single and
Conner Spelman drove in
Jaden Bastian to make the score 10-5 through eight frames. The Eagles added three runs in the eighth and the game concluded with a final score of 13-5.
Dylan Faulkner was given the loss (2-1).
