HATTIESBURG, MS --Sofia Rampazzo and Cami Kelsay each notched double-doubles, but the Jacksonville volleyball team fell to the Northwestern State Lady Demons 3-1 (25-15, 21-25, 21-25, 24-26) Saturday afternoon at Southern Miss Wellness Center.
Rampazzo, had 11 kills and 13 digs and Kelsay had 13 kills and 13 digs. Alija Heins added 10 kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Ana Tobar chipped in for with 18 digs to go with three blocks from Heins.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Dolphins won the first point and never looked back to secure the first set 25-15. Jacksonville opened up its biggest lead, 10 points, to finish off the set. Jacksonville also supplemented their offense with four aces in the opening set. The 'Phins got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked four Northwestern State attacks in the set.
SET 2 | Jacksonville then lost the second seto 25-21, tying the match at a set apiece. The Dolphins trailed by as many as eight points as Northwestern State grabbed the advantage for good at 6-5 in a set that was tied up five times before the Lady Demons took over the lead.
SET 3 | Jacksonville then lost their second set in a row, falling behind in the match two sets to one. The Dolphins lost the first point and never clawed back into the lead before falling in the set 25-21.
SET 4 | Jacksonville lost set four and the match, falling 26-24. The Dolphins fell in a back-and-forth set, that featured four lead changes and was tied up eight times. Neither team opened up a lead of more than four points along the way.
