The Jacksonville women's basketball team defeated the West Georgia Wolves 87-74 Thursday night at Swisher Gymnasium.
The Dolphins (9-10, 3-4 ASUN) were led by sophomore forward
Saniyah Craig, who finished with a career-high 22 points. The interior presence expanded her range with two triples, and went eight for eight from the free-throw line.
Jacksonville led the way in the first quarter. Senior guards
Edyn Battle and
Priscilla Williams paced the offense and gave the Dolphins a 13-11 lead at the first media timeout. Graduate student forward
Makayla Edwards drilled a transition 3-pointer to keep Jacksonville ahead at the quarter break, 20-16.
The second quarter was more of the same. Williams pushed the ball in transition, and the Dolphins kept in front. West Georgia battled, but JU took a five point lead to the locker room.
Jacksonville continued to pull away in the third quarter. The 'Phins defense shut down the Wolves, while Craig found her groove on the offensive end. The Phoenix, Ariz. native scored six points in just the third quarter.
With the lead up to double digits, Craig put the icing on a strong third period with a buzzer-beating triple to give JU a 13 lead with 10 minutes to play.
Craig hit another triple to open the fourth quarter, giving her a career high and extending the Dolphins lead to 18.

- Battle finished with 26 points, her sixth-straight 20-point game.
- Williams finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds, her fifth double-double of the season and second in as many games.
- Edwards returned to the lineup for the first time since Jan. 4 and finished with nine points.Â
- The Dolphins are now 1-0 against West Georgia after the first matchup in program history.
