The Jacksonville women's basketball team fell to the North Alabama Lions 73-57 in the final leg of a six-game road trip.
The Dolphins (6-8, 0-2 ASUN) were led by sophomore guard
Sana'a Garrett. The Philadelphia native dropped 13 points and stole the ball five times --- matching a career-high set against Central Arkansas Thursday.
The first half was a game of runs. Garrett led the way early for Jacksonville, scoring a pair of contested baskets to put the Dolphins up in the early moments. North Alabama responded with a run of its own to take the lead.
Jacksonville answered at the end of the quarter with a 14-0 run, punctuated by senior guard
Priscilla Williams who drained a triple as the clock ran out.
The runs continued through the second period. The Lions raced back in front, but the Dolphins were quick to respond. Graduate student forward
Makayla Edwards tied the game from the free throw line.
She then beat a player off the dribble and pulled up from the elbow to put Jacksonville back in front. Once again, however, the Lions answered with a big run of their own. North Alabama led by eleven at the halftime break.
North Alabama wouldn't surrender the lead the rest of the way. The Dolphins were led by a few bright spots down the stretch in the second half. Sophomore forward
Saniyah Craig nearly put up a double-double in just the second half, finishing with nine points and eight rebounds.
Sophomore guard
Bailey Burns continued her strong debut season, finishing with seven points in just 15 minutes of action.
