Jacksonville Women’s Soccer Concludes Regular Season With Draw At Queens

Charlotte, N.C. – The Jacksonville women's soccer regular season ended in a scoreless draw at Queens Sunday, the first scoreless draw of JU's season.

Saturday's game represented the fifth shutout of ASUN play for the 'Phins, while the result was just the second time in ASUN play JU didn't register a goal. Jacksonville finished the regular season 9-4-4 and 6-1-3 in conference. Three of JU's final four games resulted in a tie.

Prior to Saturday's match, Jacksonville had already secured its spot in the ASUN Tournament as the second overall seed in the Graphite Division, behind division leader FGCU. First round of tournament play begins on campus sites Oct. 30.

As the Dolphins have been prone to do all season, they led the game in shots and shots on goal by a hefty margin. Jacksonville outshot the Royals 18-6 and put nine shots on goal to Queens' two. The draw was the second time JU held Queens scoreless this season. Queens goalie Hannah Dike-Lawlor was forced to make 10 saves to keep Jacksonville off the board. In net for the Dolphins, Pia Bozic made two saves.

Laura Di Mascio hounded Dike-Lawlor all game, tying Paula Herranz with three shots and two shots on goal to lead the game. Defenders Millie Urquhart and Frida Johansson each had two shots and a shot on target.

It was a quiet day for both Alicia Rey Perez and Manuela Restrepo, who tallied just one shot between the pair. Rey Perez played 50 minutes while Restrepo went the full 90. Off the bench, Olivia Peal and Claudia Perez Avila each took a pair of shots. Madelyn Radtke and Lina Ballmann each had one shot on goal.

Jacksonville enters the ASUNT as the league leader in shots, shots on goal, total goals, assists and points through the entire season. The 'Phins have allowed just 20 goals all year and just 11 in ASUN competition.
