DELAND, Fla. — The Jacksonville University men's soccer team fought to a hard-earned 0-0 draw against in-state rival Stetson on Saturday, leaving Deland with a crucial point in ASUN Conference play. The defensive struggle saw both sides create opportunities, but neither was able to break the deadlock through 90 minutes.
The result moves Jacksonville's overall record to 2-5-3 (0-1-2 ASUN).
Jacksonville's defensive line, anchored by center backs Nahne Paulsen and Logan Hall, was impenetrable throughout the match. Goalkeeper Christian Sekanina was outstanding between the posts, recording a clean sheet with three timely saves, mirroring the defensive effort of his Stetson counterpart, Nicolò Radaelli, who also finished with three saves.
Offensively, the Dolphins generated seven total shots, matching the Hatters' own offensive output. Jacksonville turned up the pressure late in the second half, earning a flurry of corner kicks and forcing Stetson's defense to commit fouls. Forward Dante Wright created the best chances of the evening for the Dolphins, testing the Hatters' keeper with two shots on goal in the final 15 minutes.
