JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- After 28 matches and one of the most memorable seasons in recent history, the Jacksonville volleyball regular season finale reached its conclusion.
On an emotional Senior Night in the friendly confines of Swisher Gymnasium, the Dolphins ended the regular season with a sweep over the Stetson Hatters.
Jacksonville finishes the season 21-7, the Dolphins third 20-win season since 2000, and secures a Top Three seed in the conference tournament next weekend. The win was also JU's 13th sweep of the year, tied for the second most in a season in program history.
How It Happened
Set 1
JU raced to an early 7-1 lead, setting the tone for a dominant night on home turf. Back-to-back Hatter errors put Jacksonville up 20-10. Four-straight Dolphins points, including a kill and a block from graduate student
Madi Novak, put JU on set point.
After Stetson ended the run, Novak rallied with another right-handed laser to give Jacksonville the opening set, 25-12.
Set 2
The Hatters were more game in the second set, only trailing 11-10 early. Five-straight points, spearheaded by sophomore
Haley Yount's kill and two blocks, flipped the momentum to Jacksonville and pushed the home side in front.
The Dolphins continued to push to the finish, with senior
Lydia Mesusan putting JU on set point. Senior
Jamie Seward took serve to close it out, with junior
Claire Mrukowski's left hand producing the set-winning kill off an assist from Seward.
Set 3
Jacksonville sprinted through the finish line in the final set. Novak put the 'Phins up 11-5, and there was no looking back from there. Senior
Rebekah Williams notched four kills, and senior
Breanna McDonough added two of her own as the Dolphins took a 24-13 lead.
The final point was a familiar sight, with junior setter
Jade Cuya Cobos feeding Mrukowski for a lefty rip to the heart of the Hatters court to win the final set of the season at Swisher, 25-15.

- Novak recorded 13 digs, completing her best weekend of the season. She closed the year with 29 kills for the weekend, and she's recorded 13-plus kills in three-straight matches.
