JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --Senior Richard Long and junior Nick Anello combined to throw a shutout on Friday as the Jacksonville Dolphins blanked the Illinois State Redbirds 2-0.
Long (1-1) started and picked up the win for Jacksonville (1-4), going seven shutout innings while only giving up two hits, walking one, and striking out five. Anello was dealing out of the bullpen as well, going two shutout innings, allowing one hit, walking none and striking out three.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After a quiet first six innings, the Dolphins took the lead for good in the seventh with back-to-back RBI doubles from freshman Sammy Mummau and junior Nick DeLisi. Anello relieved Long in the eighth and came in strong, striking out two Redbird batters. He had no trouble in the ninth, finishing the game with a swinging strikeout to secure his first save of the season.

GAME NOTES
-The Dolphins out-hit the Redbirds at a 7-3 clip.
-Jacksonville pitchers faced 29 Illinois State hitters in the game, allowing eight ground balls and nine fly balls while striking out eight.
-Mummau led the Dolphins at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
