JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville University men's lacrosse team fell to seventh-ranked Duke 14-9, showing much improvement against its second top-10 opponent in two games to open the season.
How It Happened
Jacksonville took the lead at the 11:17 mark of the first quarter, using two
Nicky Brown scores to answer the Blue Devils opening goal.
Jack Taylor had the assist on the second of Brown's two, the first of five points in the game for Taylor.
Both sides traded goals for the rest of the first half, with Duke scoring with six seconds left in the half to take an 8-6 lead into the break.
Another Duke goal made it 9-6 before Taylor answered with his third of the game, this time assisted by

Jacksonville fought back, scoring two straight, as
Dalton Hubbs and
Michael Clark cut the deficit to five. Hubbs goal was the second assist and fifth point of the day for
Jack Taylor, while Clark's goal was the first of his collegiate career.
Head Coach John Galloway
"We don't believe in moral victories anymore, but I am incredibly proud of how our guys responded from last week's result. We had our chances throughout the game, but made some timely mistakes that will serve as great lessons for us this spring. We have become a better unit each week this spring, and I can't wait to approach this week with a humility and hunger to get better."
