JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville women's lacrosse team fell to the Vermont Catamounts in an overtime thriller, 11-10. The game featured four lead changes and five ties down the stretch, with the Catamounts scoring the final goal in overtime.
The Dolphins (0-2) were led by freshman attacker
Shae Hagans. After a goal in her college debut against Michigan, the Prosper, Texas, native scored her first career hat-trick, finishing with three goals on four shots. She leads the team with four goals after the first weekend of the season. Junior midfielder
Abby Moran excelled at the draw, collecting 12 draw controls, nine more than any other player.
Vermont opened the scoring less than a minute into the game, but Jacksonville answered with a pair of first quarter goals to take a lead at the first break. Junior attacker
Madison Plitt grew that lead with an early goal in the second quarter. Hagans scored a pair of goals in the quarter, and the Dolphins led by as many as two, but the Catamounts fought back to make it a one-goal game at the break.
Sophomore attacker
Maddie Herman got her second goal in as many games to double the Dolphins lead in the third quarter, but Vermont scored twice to tie the game early in the third. Freshman

Allyx Berry scored to restore Jacksonville's two-goal lead, but the Catamounts answered with a three-goal run to take their first lead since the first goal of the game.
Hagans answered for JU to tie the game, and the teams traded goals. The score was knotted at 10 as the fourth-quarter clock hit zero. In overtime, the teams played a scoreless first three minutes, but Vermont converted on a free-position opportunity in the fourth to win the game.
