Jakari Spence Named To Academic All-ASUN List

JACKSONVILLE, Fla -- Jacksonville graduate guard Jakari Spence has been named to the Academic All-ASUN award list, the league announced Tuesday.

Spence and six other student-athletes made up the list as voted on by coaches and academic advisors around the league.

The New Jersey native came to Jacksonville for his final year of college basketball where he has earned a 3.833 in his master's program, earning a degree in Organizational Leadership.

On the court, Spence has started 30 of the 30 games he has played. He has played 814 minutes, third most on the team, and is averaging 8.0 points per game, 4.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists.

At the point guard position, Spence helped navigate Jacksonville to its #4 overall seed in the ASUN Tournament and a Quarterfinal win over Eastern Kentucky Monday night.

In the game, Spence put up eight points and dished out five assists, which tied Robert McCray V for a game-high.

Spence and the rest of the Dolphins will now travel to North Alabama for a semifinal game against the Lions. The season series between the two schools is split 1-1.

The Academic All-ASUN list is the first of the postseason award lists to be announced by the league. The All-ASUN teams, along with awards like Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, will be announced at 11 a.m. EST Tuesday.
