JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- The Jacksonville women's lacrosse team clinched its 10th Atlantic Sun regular season conference championship, defeating the Liberty Flames 18-10 in the final game of the regular season.
The Dolphins capped off a perfect regular season in ASUN play, sweeping the league 6-0, with only one game within two goals. Jacksonville has also won its last four games against the Flames heading into next week's conference tournament in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Sophomore attacker
Maeve Brennan turned in the best performance of her college career, scoring five goals and dishing out three assists; all career bests.
Jacksonville took complete control of the game from the beginning. The Dolphins raced out to an early 6-0 lead they would never relinquish.Â
Sophomore midfielder
Jessica Giller got a career day started with an opening goal. Junior attacker
Olivia Johnson scored back-to-back goals, then Brennan got her first of the day to convert the first woman-up goal of the day.
Giller made it two goals on the advantage, cashing in a chance from Johnson with just over five minutes in the first. The physical play toiled on for both teams, and the Dolphins went woman-down, but it didn't stop the onslaught.
Senior midfielder
Maddy Orefice found space on the breakaway and potted the sixth of the quarter on an assist from junior attacker
Ainsley Scruggs. The Flames got their first of the day, but Brennan had an answer off a quick assist from senior defender
Kaila Stasulli.
Brennan scored the first of the second quarter on another shorthanded situation, and the special teams success continued with senior attacker
Madison Plitt scoring on a woman-up.Â
Freshman attacker
Shae Hagans got her first of the day, then she turned facilitator to find Plitt on another man advantage. After a dominant first two quarters, Jacksonville took a commanding 11-5 lead into the second half.
Scruggs and Brennan pushed the lead to eight in the early third, and the Dolphins took a 13-7 lead to the final period of play. Jacksonville would add five more in the final frame to secure another regular season conference title.
Sophomore attacker
Maddie Herman scored her first of the day. Hagans cashed in her second of the day, then Brennan completed her five-goal day. Stasulli capped off her final game at Rock Stadium with her second goal of the season.Â
Plitt completed her hat-trick in her final home game to secure the 18-10 victory.
Game Notes
- Sophomore defender Olivia Redden collected a career-high four ground balls and four caused turnovers.
- Junior goalkeeper Brookelynn Hodgin recorded 10 saves, her fourth game with double-digit saves this season.
- Nine different players scored a goal and 10 different players registered at least one point.
- The Flames were held to their lowest goal total in ASUN play this season.

The Dolphins will travel to Lynchburg, Virginia for the ASUN Women's Lacrosse Tournament next weekend. The semi finals are scheduled for Thursday, and a possible final is set for Saturday. Opponents and game times will be finalized at a later time.
