Box Score 3 CHARLOTTE, NC — The
Jacksonville University softball team split the opening two games against Queens in Charlotte on Friday (May 2).
A pitcher's duel ensued in the first game of the day before
Madison Bratek scored on a passed ball in the fourth inning. Queens answered with a two-run double in the bottom half.
Haley Fox singled in the fifth to bring in a game tying run before
Alison Carter gave JU lead and broke things open in the sixth with a three-run shot in the sixth to make it a 5-2 game.
Jazz Jones added a solo shot later in the inning to add insurance, heading into the bottom half of the seventh with a 6-2 lead.
Queens added a run in the seventh, giving JU a 6-3 victory in the opening game of the series.
In the second game, Queens took a 3-0 lead with a three-run homer in the first.
Alayna Gaddy answered in the second inning with a three-run homer of her own to tie things up at 3-3.
Haley Fox scored on a wild pitch in the sixth to give JU the 4-3 lead. Queens tied the game in the bottom of the sixth on a solo-homerun. After a scoreless seventh, the game headed into extras before Queens walked it off with an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth.
