Jacksonville Falls to FGCU 4–2 to Conclude 2025 Season

DELAND, Fla. –Jacksonville Baseball wrapped up its 2025 season with a 4-2 defeat to FGCU on Saturday at Melching Field.

Jaden Bastian paced the Dolphins (30-26) with a 3-for-4 day at the plate and a walk. Jonah Shields added an RBI single in the seventh, while senior Blake DeLamielleure drove in a run with a four-pitch, bases-loaded walk in the third.

On the mound, sophomore Garrett Corbett got the start, allowing two unearned runs in 2.1 innings of work. Senior Blake Barquin struck out two over four innings of relief, keeping FGCU off the board in three of his four frames.

Junior Nick Anello closed the game with a clean inning of relief, striking out one in a scoreless eighth. HOW IT HAPPENED
FGCU jumped ahead in the third inning, scoring twice on a pair of unearned runs. Jacksonville responded in the bottom half of the frame, with DeLamielleure's walk trimming the deficit to 2-1.

The Eagles extended their lead to 4-1 in the sixth with an RBI triple and a sacrifice fly. JU threatened again in the seventh, when Shields laced a single up the middle that deflected off second base to bring home a run and make it 4-2.
In the eighth, with one out and a Dolphin runner aboard, both teams entered a lengthy weather delay. Play resumed hours later at 8:15 p.m., but the Dolphins were unable to mount a final comeback.

Despite outhitting FGCU 8–6, Jacksonville couldn't overcome the early deficit or cash in on late chances, stranding nine runners in total.

The loss ends the Dolphins' season with a 30–26 overall record.
