JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville University softball team is raising money and awareness for the National Alliance on Mental Illness through the organization's yearly walkathon.
The walk, on Sunday, Sept. 28 at the Riverwalk Art Square, is a fundraiser to support those dealing with a variety of mental health issues.
Having partaken in the walk previously in the past, the Dolphin softball team is looking to raise donations for the organization and will play for the NAMIWalks charity all season.
The softball team's statement is as follows:
"No one NAMIWalks alone," that's the mantra we walk by at the community's most important mental health fundraising event.
This season, our team is playing for something bigger than softball. We're raising money for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). Mental health affects so many people around the world, and student athletes have been at risk in recent years. We want to do our part to break the stigma and show support for anyone struggling.
Our team is dedicated to spreading awareness and raising funds to help NAMI continue its amazing work.
We'd love for you to join us — whether that's by donating or sharing our fundraiser. Together, we can make a difference on and off the field.
