Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Jacksonville Falls At Eastern Kentucky

RICHMOND, Ky. --- The Jacksonville Dolphins fell on the road against the league-leading Eastern Kentucky Colonels, 83-62, Thursday night on the road. The Dolphins (11-7, 3-4 ASUN) were led by graduate student guard Priscilla Williams who recorded a 14-point, 13-rebound double-double.

The game started as a tight battle. Junior forward Carmaya Bowman scored a bucket in the paint to put the Dolphins up 8-7 early, but the Colonels would start to separate from there.

Sophomore guard Mychal White kept JU in range in the first, driving hard to the paint and earning a pair of free throws then throwing up a perfect floater off the backboard for a fast-break bucket. EKU controlled the game, though, leading 29-17 at the quarter break.

The Colonels took the first 15 points of the quarter, before senior Makiya Miller ended the run with back-to-back buckets. White and freshman Tatum Brown got on the board in the second, but EKU took a 54-27 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter, Jacksonville finally found its spark. The Dolphins' defense set the tone, holding the Colonels to 16 points.

Jacksonville opened on an 11-4 run, with junior Bailey Burns hitting a triple and a layup to key the run. The Dolphins got it done from the free throw line in the third, scoring nine of their 26 points from the charity stripe.

In all, JU outscored the Colonels 24-16 in the third, cutting into the deficit. The fourth quarter featured more strong defense from the Dolphins, allowing just 12 points in the period. However, Jacksonville's offense couldn't find a run to close the gap, as EKU closed out the game for the 19-point win.

Game Notes
  • Three Dolphins (Williams, Brown and Burns) scored in double figures. They've all scored in double-figures in three-straight games.
  • Brown also added seven rebounds and a team-best five assists. This is her first career game with at least 10 points, five rebounds and five assists. She also added four steals.
  • Williams has recorded seven double-doubles this season, most in the ASUN.
