LAKELAND, Fla --- Senior Zachary Earley finished sixth overall to lead the Jacksonville University men's cross country team to a third-place finish Friday morning at the FLRunners.com Invitational at Holloway Park.
The Dolphins totaled 64 points, finishing nine points behind runner-up Saint Leo in the seven-team scoring field. Florida Southern won the meet with 25 points.
Earley completed the 8K course in 26:47.05, leading Jacksonville for the third consecutive meet to open the season. He was the second finisher among runners representing collegiate teams, ,and the first among D1 universities.
Freshman Andrew Boyer followed in 16th place with a time of 28:11.69, improving by more than 40 seconds from his 8K performance at the FSU Pre-Regional two weeks earlier.
Ryan Miller crossed in 23rd at 28:32.85, while Caleb Brigman and Gabe Edwards finished just one-tenth of a second apart to complete Jacksonville's scoring five. Brigman placed 27th in 29:00.38, followed by Edwards in 28th at 29:00.48.
Liam Ford finished 31st in 29:16.36. Robert Welling (29:53.36) and Zander Kochen (29:57.38) placed 38th and 39th, respectively, while Paul Svilokos crossed in 42nd at 30:17.31. Diego Corchado rounded out the Dolphins' finishers in 51st with a time of 32:13.20.
Jacksonville returns to competition Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Upstate Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C.
