JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- Jacksonville graduate student goalie
Ryan Della Rocco was named ASUN Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time in his career after another elite performance between the pipes for the Dolphins.
Della Rocco manned the net for Jacksonville against No. 6 North Carolina, holding the Tar Heels to 11 goals while being credited with 15 saves. He stopped the ball at a 57.7% rate, holding a star-studded Tar Heel attack at bay.
This is his second-consecutive game with at least 15 saves, both coming against ranked opponents. He's one of three goalies in the country with at least 15 saves in two games this season, and the only one to do it against two ranked opponents.
He's currently third nationally in saves per game and top 10 in save percentage.
Della Rocco has recorded at least 15 saves in a game six times in his career. He sits second all-time in program history with 414 saves and counting.
Della Rocco and the Dolphins will finally get a chance to play in front of the home crowd at Rock Stadium this weekend when Jacksonville hosts Le Moyne in a Duel of the Dolphins. Opening faceoff is slated for noon on Saturday.
