JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- Jacksonville's queen of the draw circle added another accolade to her growing trophy shelf, as senior
Abby Moran was named the Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week.
Moran cemented herself as the greatest draw specialist in school history this weekend, breaking the school's all-time record for draw controls of 405. She now sits at 407 career draw controls and counting.
She already held the school's single game (20) and single season (174) draw control records, and now the all-time record belongs to her as well.
This weekend, she tallied 25 draw controls over two Jacksonville wins to open conference season. Against Coastal Carolina, she notched nine draw controls. Against Queens, she grabbed 16 draw controls to break the all-time record.
She's one of the very best in the country in the draw circle this season, ranking top three nationally in draw controls per game. Moran is currently on pace to break her own record for draw controls in a season.
She was named to the preseason All-ASUN team and earned first-team All-ASUN honors a season ago. Moran is the second Dolphin to win ASUN Defensive Player of the Week, joining senior defender
Maggie Cuddy.
Moran and Jacksonville will head north for one of their biggest road trips of the season, facing off against Delaware and Liberty for the heart of the conference season. The Dolphins will face the Blue Hens Thursday at noon before battling the Flames Saturday at noon.
