How It Happened
West Georgia struck first with a four-run opening inning, but Jacksonville responded immediately in the bottom half.
Sam Grunberg delivered an RBI single before
Abdriel Delgado brought home another run on a fielder's choice to cut the deficit in half.
After the Wolves extended their lead to 5-2 in the fourth, the Dolphins answered with a three-run inning of their own.
Sammy Mummau lined a two-run single to right field to extend his hitting streak to eight, and
Roger Vergara followed with an RBI groundout to even the score at 5-5.
West Georgia briefly regained the lead in the sixth, but Jacksonville continued to respond. In the seventh, Grunberg doubled down the line to drive in a run before Delgado followed with an RBI single.
Logan Baratta added a sacrifice bunt to push the Dolphins in front, 8-6.
The Dolphins broke things open in the eighth.
Derek Bermudez drove in a run with a single before Grunberg added a two-run knock. Delgado capped the inning with a two-run home run to right field, extending the lead to 13-7 and putting the game out of reach.
Jacksonville's bullpen handled the rest from there, closing out the win and securing the series.
Sam Grunberg has been right in the middle of everything during this stretch, and tonight was just the latest example of that. Over the past week, his average has jumped from .238 to .284, and most of it's come almost entirely in big moments.
Going back to UCF, he sparked rallies and delivered when it mattered most, from a leadoff double that turned into a run, to a game-tying home run in the eighth, and a go-ahead RBI in the 10th. That same pattern carried into the West Georgia series, where he helped flip momentum Friday with a key RBI single before eventually coming around to score the tying run in a game Jacksonville never gave back.
Saturday followed the exact same script. After West Georgia jumped out early, Grunberg immediately answered with an RBI single in the first to settle things down. Later, with the game hanging in the balance, he delivered again with a game-tying double in the seventh, then came around to score what became the winning run. He wasn't done there, adding two more RBIs in the eighth to help put the game away.
Grunberg has consistently been the one delivering the swing Jacksonville needs. This week alone, he's gone 9-for-15 (.600) with seven RBIs, six runs scored, two doubles, and a home run, anchoring the Dolphins' offense during their hottest stretch.
