Czeschin Named ASUN Offensive Player Of The Week

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- Jacksonville standout freshman Zane Czeschin won the first conference honor of his college career, winning the Atlantic Sun Offensive Player of the Week award Monday.

Czeschin was the Dolphins' top scorer this past weekend in a 14-1 win over the Queens Royals. The freshman from Birmingham, Alabama, led the team with six points, a new career high. He scored a career-best five goals and dished out an assist in the win.

The rookie attackman was also productive in the middle of the field, causing a pair of turnovers on the ride and grabbing a career-best four ground balls.

Czeschin is having a strong first season of college lacrosse. The freshman leads the team with 23 goals, and he ranks third on the team in points with 31. He's recorded at least one point in every game this season. He's gotten better as the season's gone along, tying or setting a new high in points each of the last three games.

He's tallied hat-tricks in each of the last three games, and he's up to 11 points in conference play. His 48.9% shooting percentage is the best among Jacksonville's offensive players this season.

Czeschin and the Dolphins will host Utah this Saturday in the final regular season game of the year at Rock Stadium. Opening faceoff is scheduled for noon.
