Dolphins Head to Fort Myers for ASUN Series at FGCU

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University Baseball hits the road this weekend, heading to Fort Myers for a three-game ASUN set against Florida Gulf Coast.

Series Information
Jacksonville (15-17, 4-8 ASUN) at FGCU (20-11, 6-5 ASUN)
Friday–Sunday, April 10–12
6:30 p.m. | 5:00 p.m. | 1:00 p.m.
Swanson Stadium | Fort Myers, Fla.

Since the series began in 2008, FGCU leads 41-27, including a 15-12 mark at home. Jacksonville dropped the first two meetings last season before turning things around with four straight wins to take the series.

The Dolphins roll into the weekend after a 4-1 stretch, highlighted by a win over a 21st ranked Florida squad and a series victory over Stetson. FGCU has been tough to beat in Fort Myers at 15-3 this season, though the Eagles are coming off a series loss at West Georgia.

Through 32 games, Roger Vergara has recorded a hit in all but five contests and in all but one conference game, holding things down in the middle infield alongside shortstop Sammy Mummau. Mummau went 5-for-12 last week with two RBIs, putting together multiple multi-hit games, including a strong showing against Florida.

FGCU leads the ASUN with a .331 team batting average and owns the conference's lowest ERA at 4.98. Jacksonville isn't far behind with a 5.23 ERA, paced by Alex Walsh, whose five wins lead all ASUN pitchers.

Walsh and Brendan Holland, both projected to take the mound this weekend, are coming off strong outings. Walsh worked six innings with eight strikeouts, allowing four hits and two earned runs in a win over Stetson. Holland followed with six shutout innings, striking out seven while giving up just two hits.

FGCU enters the weekend third in the ASUN Graphite Division, while Jacksonville sits fifth. The Dolphins did a stellar job of generating base runners last week, and look to come up with some timely hits to generate runs this weekend.
