SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Jacksonville University men's soccer completed a perfect opening road trip with a 5-1 victory over Incarnate Word Sunday night at Gayle & Tom Benson Stadium.
Jacksonville is 2-0 for the first time since 2001, when the Dolphins opened with road wins over Coastal Carolina and Charleston Southern. JU outscored its two Texas opponents 7-1, while Sunday's first meeting with Incarnate Word gives the Dolphins a 1-0 lead in the all-time series.
Matias Tobon opened the scoring at 23:21, finishing a ball from Leonardo Davi C Santos. The 2025 ASUN All-Freshman selection has scored in each of Jacksonville's first two matches after totaling three goals and three assists last season.
Incarnate Word equalized four minutes later, but freshman Quinten Koster put Jacksonville back in front at 36:19. Koster scored just 90 seconds after entering the match, making his first collegiate goal the game-winner.
The Dolphins pulled away after halftime. Dante Wright found Romain Spailier for JU's third goal at 68:23. Spailier has now scored in two of Jacksonville's last three regular-season matches dating back to the 2025 finale at FGCU.
Davi C Santos added an unassisted goal on a free kick at 74:04 to complete a career-high three-point night. His goal and assist Sunday surpassed the two points he recorded during his freshman season.
Wright closed the scoring at 86:02, giving the sophomore a goal and an assist in the match. He has one goal and two assists through two games after finishing his injury-shortened freshman season with five points.
Jacksonville placed all 11 of its shots on goal and held an 11-7 advantage in total attempts. Simen Havig made four saves to earn his second victory of the season.
The Dolphins return to Jacksonville for their home opener Friday against Georgia Southern. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Southern Oak Stadium.
