MIAMI --- The Jacksonville Dolphins got back in the win column Friday, rolling to a four-set win (25-18, 21-25, 25-14, 25-20) over Alabama A&M in the first match of the 305 Classic.
Jacksonville (5-5) was led by
Abbie Tuyo. She tallied a team-best and career-high 20 kills while hitting .415. Her five kills per set also smashes her prior career high.
Ana Nastase was another stat-sheet stuffer for the Dolphins. She led the team in assists (24) and digs (14), while also tallying five kills and two blocks.
Set One
Senior
Alija Heins sparked a massive early service run for the Dolphins to take control of the opening set. On her serve, Jacksonville won nine-straight points to take a commanding 11-2 lead early in the game.
The Dolphins kept on the front foot, as freshman
Jaylyn Tuiasosopo sent home a kill to take JU into the technical timeout up 15-9.
Another Tuiasosopo kill would put Jacksonville on set point and a service error gave the Dolphins the opener, 25-18.
Set Two
Alabama A&M made it a battle in the second set. Jacksonville's early lead never surpassed four points, while the Bulldogs kept in striking distance. Tuyo was on fire for the Dolphins, though, recording six kills in the set including her 100th of the season.
Despite the big showing from Tuyo, JU trailed late before ultimately dropping the set 25-21.
Set Three
Jacksonville got back in its groove in the third.
Haley Yount marked her return to the court for the first time since Sept. 5 with an early kill to give JU the 8-5 lead.
The momentum continued as the Dolphins fed their pin hitters who peppered the Bulldogs with kills. Tuyo added five more strikes in the third as JU closed out the set 25-14.
Set Four
Tuyo eclipsed her career-best mark for kills early in the fourth, notching her 18th of the day to put the Dolphins up 11-7.
Alabama A&M made Jacksonville work for it, tying the set at 20 points apiece. With the game and match on the line, JU rattled off five points in a row to close it out.
Kathryn Adler scored a final kill from the right side to secure the 25-20 set win.

- Tuyo is the first Dolphin with 20 kills in a match since Rebekah Williams against Central Arkansas on Nov. 1, 2025.
- Jacksonville hit .300 or better in three of four sets, including a .344 first set.
- Tuiasosopo finished with 10 kills, her fourth double-digit kill outing this season.
- Daiangelie Gonzalez set a new career high with eight kills. She's set new career highs in back-to-back matches.
