JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville University men's soccer team fell to Lipscomb, 1-0, Saturday evening at Southern Oak Stadium.
The Dolphins moved to 3-3-1 overall and 0-2-1 in ASUN play. Lipscomb improved to 2-4-1 and 2-1-0 in the conference.
Jacksonville held a 3-2 edge in shots during a scoreless first half. Diego Valles put an attempt on frame in the 16th minute, while Romain Spailier forced a save from Lipscomb goalkeeper Alex Kara in the 21st. Simen Havig denied James Pidutti in the 29th minute to help keep the match level heading into halftime.
Lipscomb broke through at 69:33 when Tobias Misael Sosa scored the match's lone goal.
The Dolphins responded with chances from Mathias Mjaavatn and Matias Tobon, but Kara stopped both attempts. Havig added three saves over the final 15 minutes to keep Jacksonville within one.
Tobon put another shot on target with 20 seconds remaining, but Lipscomb recorded a team save before the Dolphins earned a final corner kick.
Jacksonville finished with an 8-7 advantage in shots and a 7-2 edge in corners. Tobon led the Dolphins with two shots, both on goal, while Havig finished with four saves.
Jacksonville travels to Central Arkansas on Saturday, Sept. 26, for an 8 p.m. ET kickoff in Conway, Ark.
