JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – On a rain-soaked evening in north Jacksonville, the Jacksonville University men's and women's cross country teams completed their first event of the year, the Florida Intercollegiate hosted by UNF.

The meet was led by sophomore Isabel DeVos on the women's side, who placed 26^th overall and by senior Zachary Earley on the men's side who placed 75^th.

Friday's meet was the first of the year and the lone meet of the season in Duval County. Next up for both squads is a trip to the panhandle where the two teams will compete in the FSU XC Invitational on Friday, September 18.

On the women's side, DeVos kicked off her sophomore campaign with a strong 18:30.54 performance. She was followed by freshman newcomer Kyla Perez Rodriguez who logged a 20:00.53 and secured 77^th place overall. Fellow freshman Kiara Rakes earned a top-100 placement in her first college race, ending in 98^th place with a time of 20:37.32. Freshman Caroline Stickler finished her first race as well with a time of 22:00.36.

Junior Alexis Holmes finished with a time of 20:14.18 and 89^th place finish.

As for the men, Earley led the charge with his time of 16:25.07. He was followed by freshman Andrew Boyer, who earned a time of 16:54.98 in his first college meet and ended his night in 96^th place.

Gabe Edwards (17:15.12) and Robert Welling (17:16.77) finished right beside one another in 113^th and 114^th place respectively. Just behind them was junior Ryan Miller with a time of 17:27.38. Sophomore Liam Ford finished with his time of 17:32.90 while Paul Svilokos  finished with his time of 17:33.75, as the pair cross the finish line in 122^nd and 123^rd place respectively.

Rounding out the race was Zander Kochen (18:02.44), Diego Corchado (18:11.78) and Caleb Brigman (18:25.24).
