JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --- The Jacksonville Dolphins dropped their second match of the Dolphin Volleyball Classic presented by Hampton Inn East Regency, falling in three sets to the UConn Huskies (17-25, 19-25, 23-25).
Freshman
Jaylyn Tuiasosopo led the way for the Dolphins. She posted nine kills, tied with
Abbie Tuyo for the most on the team, while also hitting a team-high .412. Junior setter Emersen led the team in assists (15) and digs (15).
Set One
The Dolphins defense stood strong with four blocks in the opening set, but the hosts struggled to generate offense with seven kills as a team in the first set. After JU cut the deficit to 12-10, UConn rattled off six straight points to blow the set away. The Huskies would close it out, 25-17.
Set Two
Jacksonville started stronger in the second set, taking an early 6-2 lead. The offense started to find its feet behind four Tuiasosopo kills. UConn flipped the set with a 5-0 run to take a 12-9 lead. The Huskies led the rest of the way en route to a 25-19 set win.
Set Three
The third set featured JU's best stretch of the day. On Strain's serve, the Dolphins won the first seven points of the game. The Huskies answered back, but a kill from redshirt freshman
Addison Krieger gave Jacksonville a 12-8 lead.
Once again, UConn flipped momentum to take an 18-17 lead. JU pulled the set within a point several times, including at 24-23, but the Huskies found their winner, 25-23.
Match Notes
- Krieger finished with a new career-high six blocks. She's averaging a team-best 1.27 blocks per set.
- Tuyo has averaged at least three kills per set in all but one match this season.
- Five different players recorded at least two block assists.

The Dolphins will put a bow on their home tournament with a Sunday matinee against the reigning SWAC Champions Florida A&M. First serve is scheduled for 2 PM.
