 JACKSONVILLE UNIVERSITY SPORTS PERFORMANCE INTERNSHIP
Jacksonville University Sports Performance is accepting applications for the position of Intern Sports Performance Coach to contribute to the Program for the 2025-2026 season (Fall and/or Spring). Qualified candidates will have the opportunity to assist the full-time staff with training sessions and day-to-day operations of the department with all 18 Olympic Sports. In addition to working alongside the coaching staff, interns will work through the JU Sports Performance Internship Curriculum that is designed to prepare all prospective coaches for a career in the collegiate strength and conditioning profession. This is a 16-week unpaid volunteer position. Successful completion of the internship will complement future considerations to move onto our paid Graduate Assistant Position where candidates will be eligible to complete requirements in order to sit for the CSCCa certification exam as well as progress to our Graduate Assistant Mentorship Curriculum.
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong work ethic and character
  • Great energy and enthusiasm
  • Ability to demonstrate effective organization and communication skills
  • A strong desire to become a collegiate strength and conditioning coach
  • Certified in CPR/AED/First Aid
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Currently pursuing an exercise science or related undergraduate degree
  • Hold or working towards CSCS or SCCC certification
  • Previous experience in a strength & conditioning program
  • Previous experience working with collegiate athletes
  • Previous coaching and/or athletic experience in sports of basketball, baseball and/or lacrosse 
  • Previous collegiate athletics experience
 
COMPENSATION:
  • Valuable knowledge and hands on experience working at the Division-1 level
  • Ability to receive college credit if applicable
  • Possible mentorship for the CSCCa certification
  • Potential to earn recommendations for future career opportunities
  • Potential for future consideration to move onto our paid Coaching Assistantship Program
