Head coach Jordan Mincy's program has added former Radford assistant coach and Tulsa standout Timothy Peete earlier this summer to the coaching staff as an assistant coach.Â
"Tim was a winner in college, not only as a player but also as a coach every step of the way," Mincy said. "He has been a part of multiple 20-win seasons, so being able to add his expertise to our program is incredible. In his short time here so far, he has shown his ability to make things work."
Peete served with the Highlanders for four seasons, starting in 2021.Â
In his four years at Radford, Peete saw his team eclipse 20 wins twice. To conclude the 2022-23 season, Peete saw his team win a pair of games in the College Basketball Invitational. Last season, Radford went 20-13 including going 10-3 at home.Â
Prior to Radford, Peete served as an assistant at Missouri Western. Under Peete, Missouri Western took a trip to the Division 2 National Tournament, the first for the school in 11 years. He also helped develop four all conference winners during his tenure.
Peete served as the Director of Player Development at UNC Greensboro before his coaching time at Missouri Western. At UNCG, Peete again saw his teams eclipse 20 wins with a 23-9 season during the 2020-21 season. His UNCG team led the nation in turnover margin and were top six in the country in steals per game. That year, the Spartans garnered Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors in the SoCon.
During the 2018-19 season, Peete was on staff at Chipola College. That year, the Indians won 27 games, advanced to the state semifinal and boasted six all-conference players.
The Memphis native was a high school coach at Arlington High School prior to joining the college coaching ranks. Peete also served as a skills trainer in his hometown.Â
Through the 2016-18 seasons, Peete was a grad assistant at UNCG where his teams won 52 games across the two seasons. UNCG won the SoCon regular season championship twice and the 2018 SoCon conference title during his tenure. By winning the league, Peete helped see UNCG to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 17 years. Before making it to March Madness, Peete and the Spartans went to the NIT after winning a school-record 25 games.
As a player, Peete was a four-year letterwinner at Tulsa. He played in 129 games under Doug Wojcik and Danny Manning. The Golden Hurricanes won the CUSA regular season title his senior season along with the tournament championship, garnering an auto-big to the NCAA Tournament. Peete was awarded the Conference USA Spirit of Service Award after the 2013-14 season for his good deeds in the community.
