Biography

AS A FRESHMAN (2019-20)
Wood played valuable minutes in all 32 games for the Dolphins during his redshirt freshman season, averaging 6.6 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. In a game against Middle Georgia State, he scored seven points off the bench but it was his 11 rebounds (five offensive) and two assists that earned him ASUN Newcomer of the Week honors. Wood scored in double figures off the bench in 9 games including a team, game, career and team season high 27 points on 7-14 shooting to go with a 13-18 effort from the free throw line (tied for the seventh-most free throws in a game in program history) and seven boards in the season finale against North Florida. He finished the season shooting 50% from the floor and totaled 18 steals and 102 rebounds on the year.

Diante Wood, a 6-4 guard, joins the Dolphins as a transfer after sitting out his freshman season at Alabama. Wood was a four-year letterwinner at Sacred Heart Catholic High School and was rated as a four-star recruit by ESPN coming out of high school. He was the top-ranked prospect in the state of Alabama and the 22nd-best shooting guard in the nation. The Anniston, Ala. native won four consecutive 1A state titles, was named 1A Player of the Year in 2018 and was tabbed first team all-state three times. Following his senior year, he was runner-up for the Mr. Basketball award in the state of Alabama after averaging 23.2 points, 12.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. He will be immediately eligible after his legislative relief waiver was approved by the NCAA and will have four years to play.
