Anastasia Price

  • Title
    Assistant Coach

Former NCAA Division I soccer player Anastasia Price (McCleary) entered her first season as the graduate assistant for Jacksonville women's soccer in 2018 while pursuing a master's degree in organizational leadership at JU. Price was elevated to Assistant Coach in 2020.

During her second year as an assistant coach, Price helped the team reach new heights alongside head coach, John Constable. The Dolphins returned with momentum from playing in the spring by starting the year by achieving the programs best start since 2002, after winning it's first regular season-opener since 2015 and home-opener since 2018.

The theme demonstrated by the coaches and student-athletes for this year was resilience. Across the season the Dolphins fought to remain unbeaten at home for four consecutive matches, defeated conference opponent FGCU for the first time during the regular season since 2008, won the River City Rumble rivalry contest against North Florida for the first time since 2016 and held two top ASUN opponents to draws. To round out all of the accomplishments, this season marks the most wins for the program since 2018.

After the season concluded, two freshman garnered ASUN honors under Constable and Price's instruction. Selma Fohrer landed a spot on the ASUN All-Freshman team alongside Eden Skyers, who also was tabbed as one of four defenders to the ASUN All-Second team. This is the first freshman duo to make the all-freshman squad since 2018, while Skyers is the first second-team selection since 2017.

She did not see much action during her first year as an assistant coach due to the season ending early because of the coronavirus pandemic. In her first full year as assistant coach, she managed to lead the team to its first victory since the 2018 season, as well as two matches that concluded in a tie.

A product of Queensland, Australia, Price spent her first two collegiate campaigns with Alabama State, before transferring to Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. for her junior and senior seasons. The 2012 Southwestern Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, she earned First-Team All-SWAC and All-SWAC Academic Team Honors in each of her two seasons as a Hornet, totalling 30 points in 37 appearances. Additionally, TopDrawerSoccer named her the top player in the SWAC following her sophomore year. She finished her collegiate career in 2015 with 71 career appearances and 34 points, after spending two years with the Blue Jays.

Outside of the states, Price captained the Australian U-19 national team during their 2012-13 tour of China, Japan and New Zealand.

A graduate of Palm Beach Currumbin High School in Palm Beach, Queensland, Australia, she served as a captain during her junior and senior seasons, leading the Reds to a second place finish her junior year and to a National Champonship in her final camapaign.

Price holds a B.A. in English from Creighton University. She married Dexter James Price in 2018 and welcomed their first child, Rocky James in March 2020.
