Dolphins Clip Ospreys Behind Disch's Complete Game

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Angel Camacho and Seth DeWitt each drove in two runs and Nathan Disch gave up just two runs in his first career complete game in a 6-2 Atlantic Sun victory against North Florida Saturday at Sessions Stadium.

"That was a big team win up and down the lineup," said Head Coach Tim Montez. "The leadership was very good. Today was a good day along with honoring the 1976 team with an outstanding turnout. I'm glad our alumni could watch a good game like that."

North Florida (20-13, 2-3) hurler Tyler DuPont (2-2) ran into trouble in the first.  Jacksonville (18-12, 1-1) opened with two runs in its first turn to the plate. Austin Hays led off the inning with a single, then JJ Gould walked. Both runners stole a base to move into scoring position, and DeWitt sent a fly ball to center that scored Hays. The next batter, Camacho, singled to left field to score Gould.

Disch (4-3) allowed a double to Keith Skinner in the first and would not allow another hit until Alex Merritt's fourth inning double. He ran into trouble in the fifth when the visitors tied the game at two. Patrick Ervin grounded out to second to drive home the Ospreys' first run, and Kyle Brooks singled to right field to tie the game.

He finished with just four hits, three walks, and four strikeouts in his nine innings.

"JJ (Gould) and the defense behind me made unbelievable plays. They got me through some tough innings," said Disch. "Tomorrow is going to be a good, fun battle."

Jacksonville chased out DuPont in the fifth after back-to-back singles to Perez and Hays to lead off the fifth. Adam Polansky entered in relief and walked JJ Gould. DeWitt broke the tie with a sac fly to right, and Camacho drove home Hays on a groundball single past the diving UNF third baseman Merritt.

Dupont gave up four runs on seven hits in four innings with a walk and two strikeouts in the loss.

Jacksonville scored a pair of runs again an inning later of Polansky. Guardascione reached second on an error in centerfield to open the inning. Pinch-hitter Nathan Koslowski reached on a bunt single, then took second and Guardascione scored on a throwing error by Merritt. Koslowski scored on a single by Gould to right center.

The Dolphins totaled 13 hits with multi-hit games from Camacho, Armstrong, and Hays, who led the charge with three hits.

The series concludes with a 1:00 p.m. rubber match Sunday.
