JACKSONVILLE, FLA – The Jacksonville University women's soccer team hosted University of North Alabama in their final home game of the season on Sunday afternoon. The Dolphins
(0-11-3) fell to the Lions by a final score of 3-0.
Senior
Kristian Shores, who is recognized as the
Hodges Mazda Player Of The Game started in goal for her sixth consecutive appearance. Shores recorded eight saves on the afternoon.
JU recorded a total of 3 shots on goal in the first 45 minutes. Senior forward
Danielle Henry fired the first shot at 16:53. Freshman forward
Olivia Abdallah had a close call in the 21
st minute with a ball that landed in the hands of the Alabama keeper. In the final minute of play sophomore foward
Madison Taylor shot the ball low to the left side of the net but the UNA goalie was able to make the save.
North Alabama opened scoring in the 36
th minute when Madeline Guillen single handedly put the ball past Shores. After the first 45 minutes of play Jacksonville entered halftime trailing UNA 1-0.
Jacksonville recorded three more shots on goal in the second half. Senior midfielder
Maya Fisher found herself on a breakaway and fired away at the net. It wasn't until the 71
st and 88
th minute of play when Jacksonville recorded the last two shots of the afternoon from junior midfielder
Emma Vasquez and senior defender
Kayla Hancock.
UNA put up two more goals in the second half both credited to Shelby Wall
The Dolphins will round out their season with visits to NJIT and UNF on the 24
th and 27
th
