JACKSONVILLE, FLA - Freshman catcher Madison Kennedy has been named to the Times-Union All Decade Softball Team for Northeast Florida.
Kennedy, a native of Baker County, Florida attended high school at Baker County High School. She was a three-time All-First Coast first- team selection and helped the Wildcats reach their first state championship in 2015. Her home run count improved with each season, while setting a program record with 32 home runs and hitting for averages of .380 or higher from her sophomore to senior year. In 2016 she set the school record with 12 home runs and drove in 36 RBI's in 28 games.She was named to the FHSAA 5A All-State team in both her junior and senior year. Outside of high school Kennedy played for the Santa Fe Inferno travel ball organization.
After high school Kennedy went on to play softball at Florida State. She was a member of the Seminoles' team that won the NCAA Women's College World Series in 2018. In her red-shirt freshman season she appeared in seven games including four games at catcher. She batted .333 with two hits, both for doubles. She hit a double on February 24 against Samford and drove a pinch-hit double to the wall in right center on March 19 against Florida A&M.
In 2018 she was named a NCAA National Champion and was named to the 2019 ACC Academic Honor Roll.
She joined the program at Jacksonville University this year and is gearing up for the upcoming season.
