JACKSONVILLE, FL - Jacksonville Men's soccer has made another valuable addition to their roster for the 2020 season. Head Coach Mauricio B. Ruiz was proud to announce the addition of twin brothers, Cao and Lui Chaves to the program on Friday afternoon.

Cao Chaves- Forward - Ribeirao Preto, Brazil

Cao Chaves will be joining JU as a forward. Chaves, who comes from Ribeirao Preto, Brazil currently attends St. Benedicts Preparatory School in Newark, New Jersey. During his time at St. Benedicts Chaves played a vital role in the success of the Grey Bees. In this 2018 season he recorded three goals and eight assists. On August 19, 2019 he was named to the 2019 All- USA Pre-season High School Boys Soccer Team. In his senior season Chaves recorded two goals and seven assists and served as team captain. He also played with Cedar Stars Academy.
 

 "Cao is an exciting attacking player with a lot of flexibility to his game. He plays with a lot of joy and creativity. He's a lot of fun to watch and I'm looking forward to coaching him," commented Ruiz.

Lui Chaves- Midfielder/ Defender- Ribeirao Preto, Brazil

His twin brother Lui Chaves, who also served as captain for the Gray Bees will also be attending Jacksonville. Lui operated as a defender at center back at St. Benedicts as well. The brother duo contributed to the defense only allowing five goals during an 18-0 season. His accomplishments during his high school career consisted of winning a Dallas Cup title, two High School National Championships and two High School State Prep Championships. Lui also played for the Cedar Stars Academy.

"Lui is a very smart player with the ability to play equally in the midfield or in the back line. His maturity and leadership will bring great value into our locker room culture.  He has the potential to be a captain of our team in a few years," continued Ruiz .
