GAINESVILLE, Fla. – With three personal bests and a top collegiate performance, the Jacksonville University women's track and field team opened the Tom Jones Memorial Invite on a high note, Friday afternoon at the University of Florida's Percy Beard Track.
Leading the Dolphins was sophomore
Savyon Toombs in the 200-meter dash; the Tampa, Fla. native was the top collegian to finish in the event with a time of 23.11 – good for third overall, a new personal best, and the second spot all-time in the JU record books. Toombs was also the only collegiate runner to place in the top five in the event.
Redshirt-junior
Emily Myslinski added a top-10 finish in the javelin throw, placing sixth with a toss of 35.19m (115 ft., 5 in.).
Along with Toombs, sophomore
Erika Earwood and freshman
Elizabeth Crosby recorded personal bests in their respective events. Earwood took 13th in the discus throw with a 13-inch PR on her first attempt, while Crosby raced to a 1:04.77 finish in the 400m hurdles for 17th place.
Four other Dolphins – all sophomores – recorded top-15 performances:
Grace Artis took home 11th in the discus (40.72m/133 ft., 7 in.);
Adja Sackor placed 12th in the long jump (5.82m/19 ft., 1.25 in.);
Nicolette Worrell finished 14th in the 5,000m run (19:11.22); and
Lauren Polimeno placed 15th in the 400m hurdles (1:04.24).

Amelia Reynolds (24.64), sophomore
Pashen Williams (24.68), and freshman
Sadae Davidson (25.02) also competed in the 200m dash.
