Women's Golf Completes Day One at Pat Bradley Invitational

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – Jacksonville University women's golf completed day one of the 44th Pat Bradley Invitational sitting in eighth place overall.
 
Casey Powell was the Dolphins low scorer in round one, carding an even-par 72, good for a tie for 19th one round in.
 
Powell was over-par just twice on the day, once on both the front- and back-nines, but balanced that out with three birdies, on her third, seventh and 10th holes of the round. For the rest of the 13 holes, she played her typical, steady golf, logging pars.
 
Jenna Fonda shot one stroke higher than her teammate, a 1-over 73. She started the day with a birdie on her opening hole, one of her team-best four on the day. Frantiska Lunackova also shot a 73, using three birdies and 11 pars, and both Dolphins are T25.
 
Mawgan Vater shot par on all but three holes as she continues to play her best golf of the year, her 15 pars leading the team on the day, and was tied for the third-most in the field, while Macarena Aguilera made three birdies and 10 pars.
 
JU was 5-under as a team on Par-5s for the round, and made 59 total pars and 13 birdies. Powell and Fonda were both 1-under on Par-3s, and Lunackova was the Dolphins' best on Par-5s, shooting 2-under. Powell, Fonda and Aguilera were each 1-under on such holes.
 
The second round gets started on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m.
