Dolphins Fall to North Alabama Saturday Afternoon

Jacksonville, Fla. – The Jacksonville volleyball team was defeated Saturday afternoon by North Alabama, 3-1, on day two of the ASUN Crossover Weekend.

Set One
The Dolphins jumped out to a 6-2 lead to begin the contest. North Alabama scored eight of the next 10 points, to tie the match at 10-all. After falling behind 22-19, JU was able to swing the momentum in its favor courtesy of four-straight service aces from Gyrani Rogers. Back-to-back kills from Jenna McNamara and Brianna Jackson clinched the opening set victory for JU, as the Dolphins downed the Lions, 26-24.

Set Two
Back-and-forth play was the style to begin the second frame, as the score was knotted at eight. JU swung the momentum in their favor behind a 7-2 spurt to take the lead over North Alabama, 15-9. However, North Alabama was able to regain control of the set with a 16-7 scoring run to win the second set, 25-22.

Set Three
The Dolphins were unable to gain traction in the third set, as North Alabama was able to stretch their lead to as many as 10 in the set, 15-5. The Lions continued their stellar play in the frame, as North Alabama was able to seal the third set, 25-16.

Set Four
Jacksonville scored seven of the first 10 points of the fourth set. North Alabama swung the momentum back to their side of the net, as the Lions took the lead in the frame, 15-12, forcing a timeout from the Dolphins. Jacksonville was able to trim the deficit to two points, 21-19, forcing a timeout from North Alabama. Following the break, the Lions scored four of the final six points to win the set, 25-21, clinching the four-set victory over Jacksonville.

Jacksonville was led on the attack by Kyndaal Stansberry's 10 kills. Camryn Honn and Rebecca Rocassin both recorded double-digit assists with 18 and 15, respectively. Gyrani Rogers led the match with six service aces, just one off the JU four-set program record.

The Dolphins return to the court Sunday afternoon, as Jacksonville welcomes Central Arkansas to Swisher Gymnasium for the final day of the ASUN Crossover Weekend.
