CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Jacksonville University women's soccer team was back on the road Friday as they wrapped up the non-conference portion of their schedule against The Citadel. A goal near the middle of the first half ended up being the difference, as the Dolphins (0-5-0) came up short against the Bulldogs (6-2-2) by a final of 1-0.
After a series of saves by
Courtney Green to begin the game, The Citadel was able to get on the board in the 30th minute moments after a corner kick in the Bulldogs' offensive end.
Jacksonville managed a pair of shots in an attempt to even things in the second half, but a try from
Gabby Holtrop missed left and a strike from
Alexys Nowak was turned away by the Bulldogs' keeper.
Green finished the day with five saves in goal, the second most in a game this season.
The Dolphins will be back at home February 28 for the first of two matches at Southern Oak Stadium to open ASUN Conference play as they play host to Stetson. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 PM.
