Box Score TROY, Ala. – Jacksonville University baseball battled before falling 6-3 to Troy on Friday night at Riddle-Pace Field.

The Dolphins (0-5) traded blows with the Trojans through the first four innings before Troy separated late.

"We fought, played much better overall," said Head Coach Chris Hayes. "Just not good enough on the road vs. a good team."

Troy got the scoring going in the second, plating two runs off of Tyler Santana (0-2) with an RBI double and a sacrifice fly.

JU responded to tie it up at two in the top of the third. Jackson Grabsky doubled to left field and came home to score when Jesus Pacheco singled to right center. He then advanced to third when Ruben Someillan reached on a fielding error, setting up Dakota Julylia's RBI single up the middle.

The Trojans pushed back ahead in the bottom half of the inning. A double and a two-out RBI single put them back on top 3-2 after three.

Again, Jacksonville answered. Cory Heffron led off the inning with a single to left center, stole second to move into scoring position and scored on Elias Flowers's single to left center, which tied things again at 3-3.

Troy countered in the bottom half one more time. Two doubles knocked in another run and broke the deadlock, putting the Trojans ahead for good.

After a leadoff walk in the bottom of the seventh, Tyler Naumann relieved Santana, but surrendered a pair of runs on two doubles to push the advantage to three, 6-3.

Jacksonville has a chance to even the series tomorrow at 2 p.m. Mike Cassala takes the ball for the Dolphins.
