DELAND, Fla. - The Jacksonville University men's soccer team (1-2-1, 1-0 ASUN) produced the fireworks on Friday night opposite Stetson (0-2, 0-1), getting a pair of goals from
Reed Davis en route to a 3-0 result to open up ASUN play.
The first Davis goal at the 8:01 mark in the first half was the first of the season for the Dolphins and the first for Davis since the 2018 season. He's battled injuries ever since that last score, but he showed on Friday night that he is all the way back. His second tally came in the 61st minute to push the Dolphins ahead, 2-0. Both Davis goals were assisted by
Jose Manzo.
Mason Tunbridge put a bow on the scoring the Dolphins in the 72nd minute when he came off the bench and converted a feed from
Jake Johnson. The three Jacksonville goals came on seven shots.
Matt Levy made four saves in goal to preserve the clean sheet. He's allowed just one goal across 180 minutes so far this season. This marks the first clean sheet for Levy since Oct. 1, 2019 at Georgia Southern.
Next up for the Dolphins will be a visit to FGCU on Saturday, Mar. 6 at 6 p.m. followed by a return to Southern Oak Stadium on Saturday, Mar. 13 to face Stetson at 6 p.m.
