TROY, Ala. – Jacksonville University baseball lost 8-1 to Troy on Saturday afternoon.

The Dolphins (0-6) took an early lead, but could not hold on vs. the Trojans at Riddle-Pace Field.

JU drew first blood, scoring in the top of the fourth. Ruben Someillan reached on an error to lead off the inning. Dakota Julylia then laid down a perfect bunt up the third baseline for an infield single. Both runners moved up 90 on Tommy Joseph's groundout to first and Cory Heffron drove in Someillan on an RBI groundout.

The Trojans answered in the bottom half. A double off of Mike Cassala (0-1) started the inning, then two of the next three batters were hit-by-pitches. Cassala then got a strikeout, but the pitch got away from Heffron and the runner reached and the man at third came in to score to tie the game at one. A single to right field plated two more to make it 3-1 after four.

Troy tacked on another in the sixth, after consecutive walks started the frame, then an error on an attempted double play on an errant throw.

The Trojans pushed the advantage to 6-1 in the seventh. A leadoff single was followed by a double down the right field line put runner at second and third. A two RBI single three batters later added to the lead.
